RESEARCH

Updated: Jun 1

Throughout the year for research, I focused on the materials from the Lectures, Talks, and also visits galleries and museums. Also, I gathered information from books and essays on JSTOR weblearn. Such as Ronald Barthes Camera Lucida, Susan Sontag's Regarding the Pain of Others, Orientalism ( who's got the power to tell a story) by Edward Said, also The Carrier Bag Theory of Fiction by Ursula K. LE Guin.

I discovered very interesting Iranian artists such as Alfred Yaghobzadeh photographer and Hoshang Irani poet, painter, pioneer of surreal Persian poetry.

Shirin Neshat, Hengameh Golestan, Gohar Dashti female photographers. Reza Abedini graphic designer, Marjane Satrapi cartoonist. I will revisit Ursula LE Guin's The carriers bag theory and Graham Harman's philosophy of Object-Oriented Ontology. Susan Sontag's lectures and books are in a revisit list.

Working as an assistant with Fiona Yaron- Field on the Women Safe House projects was a great privilege not only to know about her and the project, but also to have her guidance for my own works.

In this journey I learned about Participatory Photography a tool for empowering women in safe houses by using mask to cover their identity and discover the dream and feelings from the tribal experiences. Also, be able to use photography as some kind of meditation in recovery.
